Frequently Asked Questions

What is Grade 5 titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) used for?

Aerospace structures and fasteners, bicycle frames, marine and motorsport hardware, where high strength for its weight matters.

What is the difference between Grade 5 and Grade 23 titanium?

Grade 23 (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) has lower oxygen, nitrogen, carbon and iron limits than Grade 5, which improves ductility and fracture toughness. Its ASTM B348 minimums are slightly lower: 828 MPa (120 ksi) tensile against 895 MPa (130 ksi).
