Marine & Offshore
Commercially pure titanium resists general corrosion in seawater, so it is used for marine hardware and heat exchangers. Designs should still avoid tight crevices at elevated temperature. Laube supplies CP grades 1 and 2 in bar, sheet, plate and tube, and Grade 5 in bar, sheet and plate.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is titanium used in marine environments?
Commercially pure titanium (for example Grade 2) resists general corrosion in seawater, which is why it is used for marine hardware and heat exchangers. Crevice corrosion is still possible in hot chloride solutions, so tight crevices should be avoided at elevated temperature.
